Po' Smedley's Life And Brain Drippings
Fron Lifehacker : The popular Windows firewall application ZoneAlarm Free has a big brother called ZoneAlarm Pro, which boasts a handful of features not available in the free version—including integrated antivirus. Normally $40, ZoneAlarm Pro will be available Tuesday  (11/18) for the low, low price of free. ZoneAlarm Free was voted one of the five best Windows firewalls by Lifehacker readers, so if you like what you've seen from that, a free upgrade to the Pro version sounds like a winner. The promotion link below will likely offer an active link to the deal starting 6AM PST tomorrow morning, but Lifehacker will post the direct link as soon as it's available.   (ZA link)

We sincerely wish you weren't seeing this message...

But due to the unexpected rush of visitors to our Web site, our servers are currently down. No excuses though. Our speedy IT team is working tirelessly to fix it so we'll be up faster than you can say ZoneAlarm.

In the meantime, we've kept the store open just for you.
Great, my one opportunity and I'm going to miss it due to technical difficulties.

>.> making commerce onto a gaming forum anyone who'll even bother reading.. let alone open this needs a serious checkup (i feel so ashamed of clicking T_T),  or some information concerning how companys promote teir stuff, and why they shouldnt need/want to do it in gaming forums and ofcourse.. why zone alarm = a pretty sucky software.....

The link does go to the Official Zone Alarm site and the site does say what date and time the offer ends, it's jsut their servers are being overrun with people trying to get the software for free. The Offer is legitimate. Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to get it.

Got it about 3 seconds after it went live.

But seriously, QFT.  This is the real deal, folks; not someone spamming.

Seems to work properly...much more complicated than Windows Firewall

on Nov 18, 2008

Um, Shadow_of_Light, whatever issues you may have with ZA, the OP was providing a helpful link to folks who may be interested in the software. I've used versions of ZoneAlarm for years and have only recently had to give it up because I moved to a 64-bit OS; I've found it to be reliable and not a resource hog.

There are probably many people on these boards who would benefit from this link, and you don't seem to realize that Stardock's forums are not strictly related to gaming (you may be posting from the GalCivII or SoaSE boards). I found this post on Wincustomize, the Stardock site for content designed for its desktop-modification apps. Many of the users there are interested in general computing topics.

For the record, I checked the link and it appears to work and be a legitimate offer from Check Point.

For all who are looking for a nice, tiny, less-ressources Firewall for Vista (also 64-Bit) and for all who wants to pay nothing.

Take a look at http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/index.html

A very nice Firewalladdon that enhanced the Vistafirewall to get usefull.

If u use Zonealarm and u think it dont steal ressource u have to try this

Just give Firewall Control a try...

I posted this this morning before the link went live. I wouldn't have been able to post it later and wanted to make sure y'all got to see it.

Sorry for any inconvenience it caused anyone.

I did manage to get mine through the email verification they offered.

Dude! Thanx!!!

Legitimate links such as this are allowed.

We check any/all of them for 'spam content/source' and real spam is summarily dispatched, as is the poster.

Po is not a spammer, BTW...

Not impossble, but it will take a little more time.

They are accepting e-mail addresses for, lack of a better term, rain-checks. I am still waiting for mine.

I have tried the free version of ZA (but not for some time), but my AV software always did just as well. I am looking forward to checking out ZA Pro, since it does a lot more. I guess I am curious whether ZA Pro will find things that the combination of BitDefender and Spybot don't.
