Po' Smedley's Life And Brain Drippings

I remeber reading a post a while ago that Stardock/WC would be adding an animated wallpaper feature. I can hardly wait. However, in the meantime...

My wife has one or two 'animated gifs' that she sets as her wallpaper (a garfield one and an office humor one). I was surprised that she could set them as backgrounds. My question is, how much of a drain is this on system resources and such? I have been toying with making something, but not if it's going to slow everything down. My understanding is that this new feature we may be getting will be very easy on the system and video card.

got no idea, but it shouldn't be too much, the PC isn't creating the animation

there is an animated wall in DTX section - castle

I'm waiting for a section too... wondering if it will be done differently or via objects/themes

i've also used gtripple to get animated water, fire effects on walls

I tried that once. I want to make something along the lines of a animated gif or flash I can use as a background. I guess I'll have to wait for this new feature.

BX remembers that in ol' good days, there used to be a subsection in DX Themes called Animated Wallpapers.
